A Celebration of Ireland’s
Textile Story

Heritage Thread & Fibre was founded to celebrate and preserve Ireland’s rich textile traditions by bringing together artisans, families, and enthusiasts. Our mission is to inspire creativity and connect communities by sharing the stories and skills behind Ireland’s heritage fibres.

Meet Our Passionate Team

Our team is committed to curating an engaging festival that showcases the beauty and history of Irish textiles. Join us in supporting artisans and fostering a vibrant cultural community through interactive experiences and events.

Alexis is the owner of Closkelt Yarns, specialising in handspun yarn and traditional fibre crafts. Before founding her business, she built a successful 20-year career as a canine and equine artist, exhibiting at prestigious events including Crufts.

She is passionate about sourcing wool from local flocks and exploring the unique qualities of different sheep breeds, combining traditional techniques with a strong commitment to supporting local producers.

As one of the festival organisers, Alexis draws on her experience as both an exhibitor and organiser to help shape a vibrant, high-quality event for the fibre arts community.

Aisleigh is the owner of The Spinning Webb and co-organiser of Heritage Thread & Fibre.

My passion lies in preserving and sharing the traditional skills of spinning, weaving and working with natural fibres. I believe every fleece, fibre and finished skein carries a story, connecting us to generations of makers who came before us. Through demonstrations, workshops and community events, I love helping people discover the quiet satisfaction of creating something with their own hands.

As co-organiser of Heritage Thread & Fibre, I’m delighted to help bring together skilled craftspeople, heritage organisations and fibre enthusiasts for a celebration of traditional textiles, rural craftsmanship and the communities that keep these remarkable skills alive. I hope you’ll join us to explore, learn and be inspired by the threads that connect our past with the present.
